Authors Melissa Bremmer is a professor of Arts Education at the Amsterdam University of the Arts. She completed her Bachelor in Music Education at the Conservatory of Amsterdam, her Master in Educational Science at the University of Amsterdam and obtained her PhD at the University of Exeter. Her research focuses on Wicked Arts Education, Embodied Music Pedagogy, music education & disability, and ArtsSciences education. Emiel Heijnen is a professor of Arts Education at the Amsterdam University of the Arts. He has worked in various contexts as an arts and design teacher and obtained his PhD at the Radboud University Nijmegen. His research focuses on interdisciplinary arts education, popular culture/media education, curriculum design, and ArtsSciences education. Emiel teaches the courses ‘Arts Educational Design’ and ‘Teaching as Artistic Practice’ at the Master of Education in the Arts in Amsterdam. Folkert Haanstra studied Psychology and Fine Art in Groningen. He held the special chair for Cultural Education and Cultural Participation at the University Utrecht and was Professor of Arts Education at the Amsterdam University of the Arts. His research focuses on the effects of arts education and student assessment in the arts. Co-editor Sanne Kersten is coordinator and researcher at the Research Group Arts Education of the Amsterdam University of the Arts. She works on research on ArtsScience education for students with autism-spectrum-disorder and previously worked on research regarding the theme of ‘Teacher as Conceptual Artist’. She is also coordinator of the third cycle program THIRD and has extensive experience in publishing books.
