The Outlaw
"THE OUTLAW" is presented here in two formats, first, as the libretto of a sung-through musical, and then, as a verse play. The story unfolds in a small but corrupt town in the Dakota Territory during the Gold Rush, where a reformed gunfighter has discarded his weapons in search of a new life. Instead, he finds not only the face of evil, but also, a divine calling to clean up the town. The Outlaw is caught in the eye of a stormy conflict between good and evil, truth and lies, selflessness and greed, love and lust, peace and violence, and justice and corruption. As a lone stranger, he is locked in a conflict with Citizen Number One and his villainous accomplices, which include the Judge, the Mayor, the Sheriff and the Newsman. The Outlaw now fights his battles through peaceful means, not only by drawing on his inner courage, but also, with the help of a mysterious "Angel." Nevertheless, he must choose between saving his beloved Senorita by returning to his violent past in a showdown with the Sheriff, or remain steadfast to his commitment to a higher calling. Take a step into the bygone era of the old west, where a morality play unfolds to decide what is truly the law and who is really THE OUTLAW.
